How We Review AI Tools

Every tool on this site is tested hands-on. Here's exactly how we score, rank, and write about AI tools, plus how we handle disclosures if commercial relationships are added later.

Our Review Process

1️⃣

We Sign Up and Pay (Like You Would)

We create real accounts and test free tiers and paid plans with our own money whenever possible. We never rely solely on press accounts or demo access, because those experiences aren't what you'll get.

2️⃣

Real Freelance Tasks — Not Demo Prompts

We test each tool on actual work: writing client emails, generating design assets, summarizing contracts, coding mini-scripts. If a tool can't handle real work, it won't score well here, regardless of marketing claims.

3️⃣

Scored Across 5 Criteria

Every tool is rated 1–10 on each dimension. The overall score is a weighted average.

⚡ Ease of Use (20%)

How fast can a new user get value? Learning curve and UX quality.

🎯 Output Quality (35%)

How good is the actual output? Accuracy, creativity, usefulness.

💰 Value for Money (25%)

Are you getting what you pay for? Quality of free tier included.

🔄 Reliability (10%)

Uptime, consistency of results, speed on repeat tasks.

🧑‍💼 Freelancer Fit (10%)

Is this tool worth it for a solo freelancer? Considers solo workflows, billing models, and support quality for small users.

4️⃣

We Give a Clear Verdict

Unlike sites that just describe features and leave you guessing, we give a clear "Best for…", "Skip if…" verdict in every review. We take positions. If a tool isn't worth it for most freelancers, we say so.

5️⃣

Reviews Are Updated Regularly

AI tools change fast — pricing, features, and quality all shift. We revisit and update reviews at least every 3 months, or immediately when a major new version drops. Every review shows a "Last Updated" date.

Disclosure Policy

💡

How We Handle Commercial Disclosures

At present, most links on this site are direct editorial links to official tools, documentation, or sources. We do not currently claim active affiliate relationships unless a page explicitly says so.

If we add affiliate links in the future, they will not influence our scores or recommendations. Any such relationship will be clearly disclosed on the relevant page, and our ratings will continue to follow the testing criteria above.

When a link is commercial in the future, we will mark it appropriately in the HTML and disclose it in line with search and consumer transparency guidelines.

When we display those names or logos, we do so for editorial identification, commentary, comparison, and review purposes only.
